Year 1 had a wonderful time at Gibside today, as part of their seasonal change topic. The children took part in an ‘Autumn Celebration’ workshop, along the picturesque Avenue. There, they observed the changes that the trees around them were making, as well as collecting a number of leaves and seeds that had fallen from the trees.
The children then learnt about what animals do during autumn, they found out that some birds migrate, whilst other animals hibernate. The class then thought about what a small animal would need to survive the winter. They then collected materials around them and built small dens for the animals to hibernate in.
The children finished their workshop by making an autumn crown and some seasonal pumpkin spotting!
